The results of the account that I have posted on this site are
the actual monthly brokerage statements on a small personal IRA
account, which started 2003 at $14,000 and ended the year at $33,135.
That is an increase of 137% (vs. 25% for the S&P 500 and 50%
for the Nasdaq in 2003). This account was chosen to be posted
because it is the one I trade the most conservatively.
There are no short sales allowed in an IRA. Using margin (leverage)
in an IRA account is illegal and the equity from a closed position
cannot be used that same day to make another trade. I trade the
IRA in a diversified manner with no stock ever being more than
25% of the portfolio, and usually each position is in the range of
10-20%. This account trades actual buy/sell signals from my system
that are posted on this site daily for all paid subscribers to
see.
You can increase the speed at which you make money (or lose it)
by increasing leverage and/or exposure to the markets. Understanding
Risk/Reward and Building
a Trading Model are fully covered in the site’s free
educational content area. I actually trade various numbers
of accounts with various brokers that have various objectives.
One account that I trade, partially for my livelihood, is a fully
leveraged margin account. It's quite profitable. However, there
are large swings. I both buy long and sell short. I DO NOT recommend
you trade the model that you develop as a margin account or sell
short, until you are an accomplished trader.
It is important to realize that the system I use generates many
trading signals, from just a few stocks to as many as 40+, depending
on market conditions. All signals that get filled will comprise
the System Composite Portfolio. Many buy signals cannot be taken
in my real time accounts because often I am fully invested, and
therefore there is not enough money in my accounts to buy all
the stocks from the system. If you choose to use the system’s
buy signals, you also will find yourself in the same position.
Thus, your account will not necessarily exactly mirror my performance,
or the total performance of the System Composite Portfolio. This
will, at times, will be to your advantage or disadvantage, depending
on what stocks you decide to buy and how many shares. I too out
perform or under perform the System Composite Portfolio.
